The latest CDN Ecosystem Diagram reflects the addition of the “Cloud ADC” segment, which includes Lagrange Systems, Avi Networks and Appcito. The Cloud ADC companies offer Application Acceleration, Load Balancing, Application Security, Application Scaling, Continuous Deployment, DDoS Mitigation and WAF. The ADCs don’t own a Global CDN PoP footprint, but have decided to leverage the existing footprint of the cloud giants including AWS, Google, Azure and others. The question they’ve asked themselves is why invest millions of dollars in dedicated servers, transit, co-location and switches, when the investment can be better spent on solving the complex problems associated with deploying applications across the vast ecosystem of cloud providers.
