Billion dollar Baby Here We Come

Take two. It seems there is Hollywood #2 in Silicon Valley, and everyone is matching everyone in VC funding game. Here is the latest VC Matrix, which was incremented by $110M, thanks to our friends at CloudFlare. CloudFlare has raised $182.1M to date, which is “crazy” money. But, “crazy” is exactly the potion the CDN industry needs, because life would Matthew Prince would be kind of boring. Here is the ranking for the “Silicon Valley CDN Rain Kings”: CloudFlare, Fastly, Aryaka Networks and Instart Logic.

The latest Venture Funding Matrix for the CDN industry has been updated to reflect the addition of the Cloud ADC companies; Lagrange Systems, Avi Networks and Appcito. This segment focuses on Application Delivery, Application Scaling, Load Balancing, DDoS and more. Avi Networks has raised $33M to date, followed by Lagrange Systems with $7.5M, and Appecito with $7.5M. As shown below, the CDN Ecosystem is diverse, with segments emerging every so often. Thus, PubNub, Akamai, Lagrange Systems, Aryaka Networks and ClearSky address a different set of customer needs. Four more months to go, lets see if the industry can reach $1B in venture capital funding.
